چکیده
Interspecific competition may be particularly exacerbated when occurring between native and invasive alien species, with environmental conditions affecting drivers of natural selection shaping spatio-temporal dynamics animal communities. The effects invaders are evident in aquatic ecosystems delicate complex balances, such as Mediterranean coastal wetlands, characterized by unpredictable water flows variable reserves. Understanding how species respond to human-induced biological invasions is paramount importance for planning management measures aiming at conservation purposes. This study investigated whether the occurrence a competing invader resulted changes ecological adaptations comparing two wetland fish species: eastern mosquitofish Gambusia holbrooki killifish Aphanius fasciatus concern. hypothesis was tested sampling fishes Ramsar site central Italy, over 2 years. Generalized linear mixed models were used examine relation parameters presence its putative competitor. aim determine salinity, temperature, depth influenced abundance sympatry mosquitofish. Both probability increased but this increase stronger present. Increasing temperature associated higher respectively, although effect small. salinity acted synergistically characterizing population structure species. Living most extreme stressed environments, potentially risk extinction. These results highlight considering interplay multiple abiotic stressors combined comparative data increasingly critical aid efforts.

All - Termination ( SCP )
We recently introduced the All-Termination(T ) problem: given a termination solver T and a function F , find every subset of the formal parameters to F whose consideration is sufficient to show, using T , that F terminates. These subsets can be harnessed by a theorem prover to locate and justify induction schemes, and are also useful for guiding rewriting heuristics and ensuring their terminati...
متن کاملImpact of SCP-2/SCP-x gene ablation and dietary cholesterol on hepatic lipid accumulation.
While a high-cholesterol diet induces hepatic steatosis, the role of intracellular sterol carrier protein-2/sterol carrier protein-x (SCP-2/SCP-x) proteins is unknown. We hypothesized that ablating SCP-2/SCP-x [double knockout (DKO)] would impact hepatic lipids (cholesterol and cholesteryl ester), especially in high-cholesterol-fed mice. DKO did not alter food consumption, and body weight (BW) ...
متن کاملSCP-2/SCP-x gene ablation alters lipid raft domains in primary cultured mouse hepatocytes.
Although reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cell types is mediated through plasma membrane microdomains termed lipid rafts, almost nothing is known regarding the existence, protein/lipid composition, or structure of these putative domains in liver hepatocytes, cells responsible for the net removal of cholesterol from the body. Lipid rafts purified from hepatocyte plasma membranes by ...
متن کاملThree-dimensional structure/function analysis of SCP-2-like2 reveals differences among SCP-2 family members.
Mosquito sterol carrier protein-2 (AeSCP-2) and sterol carrier protein-2-like2 (AeSCP-2L2) are members of the SCP-2 protein family with similar expression profiles in the mosquito life cycle. In an effort to understand how lipids can be transported by different SCP-2 proteins, the three-dimensional crystal structure of AeSCP-2L2 was solved at 1.7 A resolution. AeSCP-2L2 forms a dimer and binds ...
متن کاملSCP in Agriculture and Rural Development
Introduction Achieving more sustainable consumption and production in the agricultural sector requires a coherent response to the intimate linkages between agricultural production, agro-ecosystems and the people who rely on them, and also the concerns and preferences of a growing number of consumers. Less input intensive and more resource efficient agriculture offers a means to strengthen the c...
